- Everybody holds hand in a circle.
- One person is chosen to be the mouse – they stand inside the circle.
- One person is the cat – they stand outside the circle.
- The cat attempts to catch the mouse by getting in and out of the circle.
- The task of those who make up the circle is to keep the cat away from the mouse and let the mouse under arms in and out of the circle where necessary.
- If there are problems with the cat not being able to catch the mouse, choose a second cat or introduce the instructions “change” whereby the cat becomes the mouse instead.
