- Players form groups of three, with one spare player who will be the shark.
- In the threes, two players face each other, hold hands and raise their arms to form an “arch”.
- The third player crouches under this arch. The player is a fish – as long as the fish remains in its arch it is safe from the shark.
- When the shark calls “food”, all the fish have to leave their arch and find a new one.
- If the shark tigs a fish before it reaches safety, then they swap roles, and the caught fish becomes the new shark.
- Pause every few minutes to change players over, so that all those forming the arches will have a chance to be a fish
