This is an introductory game, used to help learn and remember the names of others. Like most name games it is very simple, and not really intended for repeated use. Sprinkled here and there in a programme of activities, however, name games can form a useful first step in getting to know peoples names, and learning just a little about them.
How to play
When the music starts all players walk around the room in any direction.
When the music stops each player links arms with the person next to them – they shake hands and introduce themselves.
The music starts again – the pair stay together and walk around the room chatting to each other.
When the music stops the first pair link up with another pair and they all introduce themselves.
This continues until everyone has joined together.
Variations
Start the game in the same way but instead of continually linking together get some one to shout out a number. For instance if 6 is shouted then you will have a group of 6 who will introduce themselves. When the music starts again they all separate and walk round the room. Then another number is shouted. Ask the group to try and find different people each time a number is called. This continues until everyone has met everyone else.
