Youth organisation Woodcraft Folk’s Trustee Board recently met at YHA Lee Valley to discuss a wide range of issues, including:
- Openness and accountability, reviewing the Charity Governance Code
- Membership and responses to the recent groups health check and annual registration
- Strategic Plan 2025-2030
- How to reduce financial barriers
- AGM 2024 planning
- Woodcraft Folk’s response to the genocide in Palestine
During the strategic plan discussion Trustees agreed that Woodcraft Folk’s future priority ambitions would include:
- Removing barriers and increasing support for volunteers
- Increasing & widening participation of young people in our educational value
- Environmental sustainability
- Financial sustainability
There will be final opportunities for young members, volunteers and others to influence the strategic plan during March 2024.
And finally, during the AGM discussion the Trustees discussed how to encourage nominations for future Trustees – especially those with finance and communication skills. Trustees shared their individual motivations, which included:
- Giving something back
- Wanting to make change
- Having relevant skills and experience to offer
Trustees will be hosting a meet the Trustees online meeting for potential candidates and for other members to find out more about the work of the Trustee Board – join us at 7pm on Thursday 25th April.
