Spanish Omelette Game

Instructions

What to do

Someone thinks of a thing and the other players are going to try to guess it.

In this game the thing can be anything. For younger age groups it can be good to limit it to things you can see, but for older age groups it can be real or imaginary, alive or dead, physical things or ideas…

The first question of the game is always “is it Spanish Omelette?” to which the thinker will reply “no, but like Spanish Omelette it is…” and think of a feature both items have.

For example:
“No, but like Spanish Omelette it is mostly white” (eg. a sheep)
“No, but like Spanish Omelette it is smaller than a person” (eg. a chair)
“No, but like Spanish Omelette it is made up of lots of things” (eg. an aeroplane)

The questioners continue to ask if the item is like different things, finding out more and more about the item, until they can guess what it is.

Tip: It s a good idea to guess a wide variety of things at the beginning so you get lots of different characteristics, rather than guessing many things that share the same characteristic.
