Art of Revolution

Instructions

Make collages, taking inspiration from revolutionary posters from around the world.

Materials

Printed posters, Old National Geographic Magazines, big paper, pens, pencils, scissors, glue, folder of printed posters to use as ideas.

Before you start

Lay out the materials, pictures, magazines over a table or on the floor.

What to do

Start with a circle discussion about the power of posters, media and different ways to share a message about a change you want to see in the world.

Guide the group to observe the materials which are laid out in the space. Ask the group to share what they like or don’t like about the materials, are the messages clear? Do they make people more aware?

In smaller groups, give materials to make their own revolution / change poster using influence from existing materials

Make time at the end of the session to come back together in the circle to present their posters or have an ‘exhibition’ where the group move around the space to look at each other’s posters.
