Each year, youth-led charity Woodcraft Folk run a competition to let their young members influence the design of the membership badge for the year.
The search for the design for Woodcraft Folk’s 2024 membership badge is on! The theme for designs this year is “Fighting Climate Crisis”
At this year’s AGM, Venturers in Bromley brought forward a motion to encourage our members to recognise the on-going climate emergency and the necessity of Woodcraft Folk locally and nationally to contribute to solutions to the crisis through our own practices. It was voted:
- Woodcraft Folk would make all camps, residential activities and weekly group nights net zero carbon by 2030.
- Event organisers should think about the impact of the event on the environment and give consideration to planning vegetarian menus, sourcing local produce, promoting public transport to events and to exploring using sustainable and reusable energy sources.
This year’s competition:
In keeping with this year’s motion we want our young members to explore how they can make changes in their group and camps/residentials to help fight the climate crisis and illustrate their favourite ideas.
These ideas will be promoted and shared to the movement. So keep an eye on our social media.
To enter, people are being asked to design a badge using this template and then fill in this form before 9th February 2024 to submit a group’s designs or share with parents/carers to fill in individually.
Once entries have been received and the submission deadline has passed the charity will open an online vote to decide the winner. The online vote will be open until the end of February 2024. The charity’s membership have the opportunity to vote and the badge with the most votes will be produced and sent to all Woodcraft Folk’s members under the age of 16 from across England, Wales and Scotland.
