Preparations underway for Camp 100 – celebrating 100 years of Woodcraft Folk

At the start of March, the Camp 100 organising team met up at Height Gate Camping Barn to discuss and progress plans for Woodcraft Folk’s centenary celebration international camp happening in summer 2025.

Camp 100 is happening between 27th July and the 6th August 2025 at Kelmarsh Hall in Northamptonshire. Young people, group leaders and workshop facilitators will be travelling to the UK from around the world, and will live by the youth organisation’s cooperative values and look ahead to the next 100 years of Woodcraft Folk.

The meeting had an exciting buzz with bookings opening in less than six months and included talking about production and infrastructure of the camp, site layout, power on site and toilet facilities. The team also discussed best ways to celebrate the centenary and look forward to the next 100 years of Woodcraft Folk.

The group were joined by members of the decarbonisation team and many discussions were had around how the camp can be as kind to our planet as possible and whether there were new ways of doing things to lower carbon usage during an international camp. The meeting was attended by volunteers who are working on different teams preparing for camp as well as 3 Venturers (age 13-15) who were bringing ideas from a young person’s perspective and heard their experiences of previous international camps.

During the weekend, the group took a walking meeting up to Stoodley Pike in the snow! There were many ideas shared on the walk of how to include international friends at camp and how workshops, games and activities can be focused around celebrating the last 100 years and looking forward to the next century of Woodcraft Folk.

Lauren Karstadt, Woodcraft Folk Project Manager says:

“It is so exciting that we are moving forward with plans for the camp and we are getting ready to share with members in the UK and our friends abroad. A lot of our meeting was spent talking about accessibility and inclusion and how we can make everyone feel welcome and enjoy our 10 days of living cooperatively together”

Bookings for Camp 100 will open later this year – watch this space!
