Give children the gift of adventure this Christmas

Woodcraft Folk are launching their Christmas Challenge fundraising campaign on 29th November! They’re raising money for Residential Adventures, to give more young people the opportunity to take part in Woodcraft Folk camps and residentials. Every donation is doubled between 29th November-6th December, so the charity is asking their supporters, members and volunteers to help spread the word and donate when they can to make twice the impact.

With the help of match funder Four Acre Trust, Woodcraft Folk are aiming to raise a total of £20,000 to reduce financial barriers for those children and young people who have the most to gain. Many children have been unable to play and spend quality time outdoors over the last few years, and are seeking more support for their mental health. At the same time, young people are also becoming more and more concerned about the environment, and they need the chance to learn about and have adventures in the world around them.

Woodcraft Folk will host over 30,000 night stays in their centres and campsites in 2023 – that’s 30,000 adventures filled with co-operative, educational and well-being focused activities all in the great outdoors. By donating, supporters can help fund reduced and free places for children in the greatest need; residential training for volunteers; well-being and mental health camping trips; and much more.

So how can you help? If you’re able to donate, double your impact by donating during the campaign week. Or, share the campaign with your family, friends and colleagues – anyone who knows someone in Woodcraft Folk knows what great experiences the charity’s camps and residentials are for young people. The charity needs to let as many people know as possible that the match fund campaign is the best time to donate to Woodcraft Folk.

Those wanting to promote the campaign are being asked to share the campaign page https://bit.ly/WoodcraftAdventures, and follow Woodcraft Folk on social media where you’ll be able to find all the easy-to-share posts when they launch next week.

Woodcraft Folk Fundraiser Cici says:

“After the massive success of our first match funding campaign earlier this year, Champions for Children, we’re so excited to see where the Christmas Challenge takes us! Residential Adventures will have a big impact across the country, helping more young people access the most crucial part of Woodcraft Folk: adventuring in the great outdoors. Share your fond memories of camps with your friends whilst you help the next generation off on their own residentials. One donation, twice the impact – this Christmas, it’s two adventures for the price of one!”

The charity is also asking people to consider asking if their workplace or trade union might want to donate and to let them know why the campaign matters to you. If they want to donate, the charity says to tell them to get in touch with Woodcraft Folk.

If you volunteer with a Woodcraft Folk group, the charity is encouraging group leaders to help by putting on a fundraising event. Follow this link to find out how you can help.
