Woodcraft Folk is non profit company limited by guarantee (company number 08133727), we are a registered charity in England & Wales (1148195) and Scotland (SC039791).

We also operate a wholly owned trading subsidiary, Woodcraft Folk Enterprise Ltd (company number 13623421). 

We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator (https://www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk/directory/woodcraft-folk) and the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://ico.org.uk/ESDWebPages/Entry/ZA160120). We have an operational partnership with Darsham Country Centre (https://darshamcountrycentre.org.uk/), which is a registered company (02831131) and charity (1047729).

Woodcraft Folk was founded on 19th December 1925 as an unincorporated, unregistered organisation. It was first formally registered on 29th April 1965 as an unincorporated charity with the Charity Commissioners (charity number 306147). On 12th July 2002, the organisation transferred to a new unincorporated charity in England & Wales (charity number 1073665). On 19th August 2008, it was formally registered as a Scottish charity with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (charity number SC039791). On 16th January 2013, the organisation transferred to its current legal form as a company limited by guarantee (company number 08133727), registered as a charity in England & Wales (1148195), with the Scottish charity registration continuing as SC039791.

Woodcraft Folk’s governance is rooted in its Aims, Principles & Programme (APP), which are agreed by the Annual Conference, and in its Articles of Association, which set out the organisation’s legal framework. These together underpin how we operate and guide all of our activities.

Membership of Woodcraft Folk requires agreement to abide by the Articles of Association, the Aims, Principles & Programme, and the policies adopted by the Board from time to time. Woodcraft Folk is the only youth organisation in the United Kingdom that actively encourages members to join both a trade union and a co operative.
