Woodcraft Folk’s Lockerbrook Farm Outdoor Centre has been awarded the Learning Outside The Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge. The badge is the only national accreditation that recognises both learning and safety for all types of learning outside the classroom providers and is endorsed by the Department of Education.
The centre, based in the stunning Peak District National Park will hold the accreditation until September 2024.
The accreditation makes holders more attractive to schools as using a LOtC Quality Badge holder reduces a school’s paperwork and makes taking students off-site easier.
Jo Holiday, Lockerbrook Centre Manager says:
“Having the LOtC Quality Badge means that we have passed a robust assessment process and that we meet schools’ learning and risk management needs, no matter what activities we offer. For teachers it reduces the red tape associated with learning outside the classroom, making it easier for you to take your teaching beyond the classroom walls.”
The inspector said in his overall comments:
“The centre makes excellent use of its unique position being relatively isolated in an elevated position overlooking the Derwent Valley. This location forms an integral part of the learning offered by Lockerbrook to make full use of the environmental learning opportunities offered.”
Lockerbrook also holds a licence under the Adventure Activities Licencing Authority to provide adventurous activities to young persons.
