Are you passionate about history, storytelling or empowering young people? Join us in commemorating the centenary of Woodcraft Folk by contributing to an exciting and meaningful project – 100 Objects for 100 Years!
The project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, will work in partnership with UCL’s Special Collections, Co-operative Heritage Trust and the Museum of Youth Culture.
We are looking for volunteers and young participants to join the project which will start on 1st February 2025.
What’s This About?
We’re creating a multi-faceted celebration of Woodcraft Folk’s incredible 100-year journey. This includes:
- Archive Research: Unearth stories, photos, memorabilia and documents that tell our rich history.
- Storytelling: Help share these stories in creative and engaging ways.
- Supporting Young Creators: Mentor, empower and support young people as they design an exhibition showcasing the Folk’s legacy.
- Activities & Events: Collaborate on interactive events to bring the celebration to life, including exhibition launches in Manchester, London, Rochdale and Blackburn.
- Centenary Book: Assist in crafting a commemorative book that captures the essence of a century of Woodcraft Folk adventures whilst striving to achieve education for social change.

We welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, especially those with:
- A love for history and storytelling.
- Skills in research, writing, or activity facilitation.
- Enthusiasm for supporting young people to take ownership.
- A passion for Woodcraft Folk’s values of equality, sustainability, peace and co-operation.

Key dates in 2025
- February 26th: Evening workshops begin at UCL for 6 weeks (near Euston)
- March 28th-30th: Project residential at Cudham Environmental Activities Centre
- July 27th – August 6th: Workshops to be delivered at Camp 100 at Kelmarsh Hall
- November 6th: Exhibition launch at Rochdale Pioneers Museum during national Youth Work Week
