What an incredible Camp 100! We all left with our own memories and unique stories, and thanks to our team of volunteers working at Camp 100, 100 Objects project team, and everyone who helped with the ‘Trailblazer Tent’. Thanks to their dedication, we will soon be announcing dates for an exhibition touring the UK and worldwide.
‘100 Objects Spanning 100 Years‘ is a celebration of fabulous trailblazers from our past and present, and looking towards the next hundred years of innovation and inspiration.
It’s impossible to thank every single volunteer individually, as so many have contributed their time and energy. However, I do want to extend a personal thank you to a few individuals who went above and beyond: Linda, Gill, Veronica, Hei Yan, Becky, Nikki, Frez, Kat, Tracy, Mia and Louis. You were all absolutely fantastic.
Add your voice, celebrate some more
During Camp 100, we received many unusual contributions, from custom-designed t-shirts to a unique hot water bottle cover. Many of these wonderful items will be proudly featured as part of our exhibition with their stories, and we want as many people involved as possible.
We’re also busy editing “100 postcards” for a special washing line exhibition, planned to tour Chile, Peru, Holland, and Catalonia, with more dates and venues to be confirmed soon. Please get in touch if you’re interested in hosting this or supporting any 100 years activities in your Districts. It’s not too late to add your own to form part of an online exhibition – favourite games and activities you play in your district, a golden moment of activism or adventure in your group, vibrant artwork bursting with the colours of your experiences. Do you have snapshots capturing what defines Woodcraft Folk for you?
It’s your history, celebrate your way
A huge thank you also goes to Kat, DF from Chanctonbury Hill who suggested we record 100 interviews for 100 years, and with Hei Yan and others have already recorded many of these at Camp 100 itself! We’re on target to have all 100 finished by the end of the year. Any activities or celebrations in Districts we can join in with let us know.
The Trailblazer tent itself was a hive of activity! From Louis’s shadow puppet workshops, naming ceremonies to postcard writing, logo designing, singing songs, sharing stories, and of course, badge making. We also extend a massive thank you to Friction Arts for providing the tent itself, which turned out to be a perfect shadow puppet theatre and exceptionally wind resistant!
Trailblazing to a brighter future
It was so busy in our tent that it was a challenge to visit all the other fantastic tents and activities at Camp 100 – we also hosted activities by The Kite Trust. We did manage to capture a few photos, and a big thank you to everyone who shared their own snaps with us too! We can’t wait to share more about the “100 Objects spanning 100 Years” exhibition and our other exciting projects soon. Stay tuned for updates!
