Debs McCahon, Woodcraft Folk’s Chief Executive, hosted the latest quarterly Supporters Update in early October. A recording can be found below.
During the update, Debs celebrated the launch of new groups in Gloucestershire, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Following a reduction in group numbers due to COVID disruptions, Debs declared ‘how wonderful it is to be opening more groups and in many new communities’. She urged those interested in setting up or supporting new groups in their community to contact membership@woodcraft.org.uk.
Debs also shared headlines from Woodcraft Folk’s residential centres, including:
- Lockerbrook’s 60th anniversary celebrations
- Biblins hosting a recent Elfin Activity Weekend and the national Pioneer Camp earlier in the summer
- Cudham successfully raising funds to support its tree planting ambitions
- Height Gate’s October plans to host a series of art workshops for local children and an exhibition of their work
She also went on to celebrate recent grant successes such as the Design for All support for the redevelopment of the Biblins Bunkhouse and the National Lottery Heritage Fund grant for the ‘100 Objects for 100 Years’ project. The next Supporters Update will focus on Woodcraft Folk’s centenary year and Camp100.
Debs ended the update encouraging supporters to help Woodcraft Folk to raise unrestricted funds at no extra cost to themselves, including the Give as you Live platform. Once you have signed up to Give as you Live the platform donates funds to Woodcraft Folk every time you shop online at one of over 6000 stores – including many well known High Street brands. At the moment the platform is donating an extra £5 for every new friend donated. Sign up here.
