Youth organisation Woodcraft Folk is one of nine organisations who have been awarded funding to deliver engaging and inclusive social activities for children and young people with SEND
Youth movement Woodcraft Folk, are thrilled to announce they have been selected – along with eight other organisations – to receive funding to deliver their Tree of Hope project. The project will involve running inclusive and social activities for children and young people with SEND.
The project will be delivered at Woodcraft Folk’s Biblins Youth Campsite which is located in the heart of the Wye Valley; providing a back-to-nature experience perfect for the project that aims to bring adventurous outdoor learning activities to participants. The campsite is nestled among ancient woodlands and stretches across 18 beautiful acres, situated beside the River Wye
The aim of the program is to provide new outdoor learning experiences for children and young people in a safe outdoor environment, building confidence and resilience, improving relationships and developing communication skills.
Alex Norman, Activities Co-ordinator at Biblins Youth Campsite says:
“We have just completed week three of a six week program with a SEND Specialist School local to the centre as part of the Tree of Hope project. The young participants have completed a range of activities such as team challenges, made campfires, tried campfire cooking, created Stone Age art, made elder bracelets and developed their skills at Archery. We look forward to supporting and guiding the children through the remainder of the project and we’re thrilled to have been selected for the funding to allow us to deliver these impactful and inclusive activites!
