Walk Leader Training Day
Join our team from Height Gate Camping Barn for a practical training day focused on leading walks for young people on Sunday 28 June, 11am-5pm. The training will take place en route with a walk from Hebden Bridge up to Height Gate in the morning where you get a chance to tour the centre over lunch. This will be followed by a route planning workshop and a chance to put your skills into practice with a walk from the centre to Todmorden in the afternoon. We will start at Hebden Bridge Station and finish at Todmorden Station
The day will be led by Pip Gardner, a qualified Lowland Leader, and is suitable for those new to leading walks. You’ll cover about 6 miles in total across a variety of terrain and be outdoors for most of the day. Participants will need to wear appropriate footwear and bring their own lunch. Water bottles will be able to be refilled at the centre at lunchtime.
This training day is open to any Woodcraft Folk members and those from West Yorkshire can participate in further funded online training to gain a qualification. To rsvp, please email heightgate@woodcraft.org.uk
