Woodcraft Folk, one of the longest serving and most established charities for children and young people, is excited to announce the relaunch of its ‘Friends of the Folk’ regular donation programme. This initiative invites compassionate individuals to contribute to a brighter future for the young people the charity supports through regular donations.
Woodcraft Folk celebrates its centenary next year and attributes a large part of its success and extensive length of service to the kind donations received over the years, without which the charity would not have been able to continue its vital work with young people.
The charity is inviting people to be part of and fund its future through the Friends of the Folk donation programme to ensure it can carry on providing life changing opportunities to young generations.
Your support is not just a donation to the charity; it’s an investment in the young generation. Woodcraft Folk empower children and young people and help instill valuable skills and offer character building experiences so that they can be active citizens through cooperation.
Regular donations have been the lifeblood of the charity over its centenary meaning it has reached thousands of children and young people across the country and internationally who take part in Woodcraft Folk groups, activities, and camps. By making a regular donation, you can help ensure that Woodcraft Folk continue to support those children as well as create new opportunities to reach even more young people, for years to come.
Every week young people of all ages across the UK meet in school halls, community venues and a host of other places to attend Woodcraft Folk local groups. There, young members learn about big ideas through fun activities like craft, games, camping, playing and debating and there is the opportunity for young members to attend regional, national and international events too. Children grow in confidence, make friends and develop skills to last a lifetime during their time with the charity, with many staying on to volunteer.
The charity also manages five residential centres in locations across the UK, open to youth groups, families and individuals where visitors can get close to nature, make friends, attend engaging events, try new experiences and develop skills. Regular donations are key to the operation and upkeep of the centres which offer a safe, welcoming environment for young people.
Woodcraft Folk also run crucial programmes and campaigns for young people that educate and create awareness of topical issues such as the climate crisis, children’s rights and anti racism.
Cici, Fundraising Manager, says:
“Regular donations are the cornerstone of our ability to make a lasting impact. They enable us to amplify the voices of young people, support our incredible volunteers, run our residential centres, and provide opportunities to those who need them most. By signing up for a small, monthly direct debit, you can make a significant difference.”
You don’t need to be able to spare much to sign up to Friends of the Folk. A small, monthly direct debit can make a significant difference: for £5 a month, you could give a child a free camp every year or for as little as £3.25 a month you could cover a volunteer’s admin fees. Woodcraft Folk are grateful for any donations you can spare.
Those that sign up will receive a regular update from the charity where you can learn where your donations are going and what difference they are making to young people with many success stories shared. You’ll also be invited to special events and campaigns.
