Woodcraft Folk are working on a new project with Peer Action Collective. The Peer Action Collective seeks to support 10 to 25-year-olds to contribute to community activities designed to help young people live a life free from violence. The innovative collective is funded by the Youth Endowment Fund, the #iwill Fund (a joint investment between The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport) and the Co-op Group. We are looking to build a team of enthusiastic peer facilitators (age 18+) who will be paid to deliver workshops to young people across the UK emphasising and raising awareness about the importance of cooperation and how they can use cooperative values in their social action projects and every day life. We will be delivering 14 sessions over 2024-2025 to groups of young people (changemakers) across England.
Cooperative values include democracy, self-help, self-responsibility, equity, ethical values, solidarity and equality, all things that we explore at Woodcraft Folk through games, drama activities, discussions, debates and outdoor activities.
Groups of Changemakers will be made up of young people from a range of different organisations across the country and will be groups who are looking to make change in their local areas including eradicating youth violence, supporting School refusers, mental health and stopping discrimination in their areas
Woodcraft Folk’s young facilitators will be supporting regional groups to explore how to adopt a co-operative approach to their work. Those with some life experience of social action and facing barriers such as violence, care experience, school refusal, mental health difficulties etc. would be most welcome to express interest as these are some of the topics the changemakers will be exploring through their social action projects.
A training and preparation event is scheduled for February 2nd-4th at Cudham. During the weekend we will work together to produce tools and session plans to support Social Action Leads and Changemakers to develop, deliver and evaluate their social action projects.
What are we looking for?

- Some life experience of social action
- Confident to present, support and deliver workshops to groups of up to 40 people (in a team)
- Collaborative and good at working within a team
- Creative
- Experience of Woodcraft Folk and our aims and principles
- Age 18+
- We would particularly welcome applications from those with a lived experience of being in a minority, living in a deprived area, diverse background or experiencing violence
When do I need to be available?
2-4 February 2024 at Cudham
Available for specific sessions (Facilitators will sign up for them and probably lead 1-2 sessions each in pairs) from April 2024 – September 2025.
What will we do at the Cudham training event?
Join us for a residential weekend of training and workshop co-creation. During the weekend we will work together to produce tools and session plans to support Social Action Leads and Changemakers to develop, deliver and evaluate their social action projects.
Do Peer Facilitators get paid to deliver sessions?
Peer Facilitators will be paid travel expenses for the Cudham training weekend. For the session delivery there will be a day rate paid to Peer Facilitators.
