Youth organisation Woodcraft Folk are delighted to announce a new partnership which will see Free to Be Kids host their residential experiences at the charity’s Cudham Environmental Activities Centre.
Like Woodcraft Folk, Free to Be Kids value the transformative experience residentials can provide to children and young people. The London based charity supports children & young people who are struggling with social or emotional difficulties, and helps to create lasting change for vulnerable children’s emotional health through group work and residential experiences. Both charities share a passion for nature, crafts and a co-operative approach to life.
Rachel Mugan, Free to Be Kids CEO and Co-Founder says:
‘We’re incredibly excited about the opportunity to work with Woodcraft Folk. Our therapeutic residential projects provide opportunities for some of London’s most disadvantaged children to experience feeling brave, adventurous and included – often for the first time in a very long time. We can already see that Cudham will provide the perfect setting for this – from den building in the woods, to night walks through the valley, to toasting marshmallows around the fire together. We’re looking forward to the children we support making many lasting memories here.”
The partnership begins with some renovation work at the centre funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. The renovations will include converting the old bathroom into a new bedroom, dividing the dormitory building so it can easily house smaller groups and a range of decarbonisation and energy saving works.
