The World We Want To See Camp

What does your vision for the future of the world look like? What small steps can we take to make th at happen? Pioneers, Venturers, DFs and voluntee rs are invited to take part in "The World We Want To See" Camp from Saturday 4th to Monday 6th May 2 019.  After setting up camp on Saturday and an opening circle: young members will participate in (and volunteers will support) a wide game: Samm y (a Pioneer) is presenting young people's vi sion of a better world to UN, but needs your helpto collect all the evidence they need and put tog ether their report! Working together in small grou ps you'll take on challenges across the camps ite to shape the picture of "The World We Want To See". On Saturday evening we'll have a campfi re and a chance for everyone to socialise.  On Sunday, participants will form their own smallgroups based on an issue they'd like to takeaction on locally, nationally or globally. Usinga hackthon format, groups will work together ove r the course of the day to devise their own socialaction. These will be showcased to all the other groups on Sunday evening.  Monday morning wi ll be an opportunity for action planning to make t hose visions a reality in small ways during Summer2019, before taking down tents and a closing cir cle. Whether you are an experienced camper orthis will be your first Woodcraft Folk residentia l, all are welcome to join us and equipment and e xtra support will be provided where needed. Accomo dation will mostly be in tents, though some spacefor those who would prefer an indoor sleepover isavailable. Meals will be provided for Saturday lu nch through to Monday breakfast. Participants willbe asked to join in with the preparation of mealsand other campsite chores as 'clan' dut ies. Volunteers who are parents/carers are we lcome to bring children of Woodchip or Elfin age ( under 10), but please be aware activities are aim ed at Pioneers and above and you will need to supe rvise younger children whilst participating. If su fficient demand we may be able to provide a crecheprogramme - please let us know when booking.  Any volunteer wishing to stay overnight at the camp will need to have current Woodcraft Folk memb ership, an up to date DBS check and have submitte d two references if becoming a member for the firs t time. Please make sure this is completed in plen ty of time before the event.
