Why Mentor?

The first steps in the Mentoring programme have already taken place, we’ve recruited volunteer trainers to train mentors. We have been running a series of taster sessions at regional events for anyone interested in learning more, and we have trained our first cohort of mentors! Watch this space for their stories.

The mentoring course has been developed by the Cooperative College and anyone joining the Woodcraft Folk Mentoring Scheme is offered the opportunity to register for and, on fulfilling the requirements below, be awarded the ASDAN Peer Mentoring Award.

The ASDAN Peer Mentoring Short Course accredits up to 60 hours of mentoring activity, providing recognition for those who are learning, developing, practising and passing on their skills through mentoring.

The Award provides a stand-alone certificate of achievement, as well as the opportunity to count credits as up to half the curriculum requirements of the Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE), which has GCSE equivalence at Levels 1 and 2, and is worth an AS Level at Level 3.
