Why do I need to be a member, and what are the benefits?

Our new lockdown website has hundreds of activities and games to do at home, weekly challenges to try and a regular programme of live workshops and events online, as well as information on how our groups can operate during the COVID-19 outbreak.

As a full member you will:

  • Be covered by Woodcraft’s public liability insurance, which insures against legal liability arising in connection with Woodcraft Folk activities up to £5,000,000.
  • Be able to attend camps and lead or support support our activities

*If you volunteer regularly with children you need to have gone through our screening process, which is part of membership. We request two references, and a DBS check. For a group night or activity to run, it is a legal requirement that two DBS checked adults are present.*

  • Be supporting the wider organisation and the district infrastructure
  • Gain a better feeling of involvement with Woodcraft Folk
  • Receive relevant information and mailings from Woodcraft Folk, including a monthly e-newsletter
  • Be able to participate in Woodcraft Folk’s democracy (e.g. represent your group at AG)
  • Undergo a DBS check, which you can use for volunteering or working with other organisations - just make sure you sign up to the update service when you first fill out the form. 
  • Gain experience for employment/education by volunteering - you can request references from those you work with, and recognition of training undergone with us.
  • Have access to Woodcraft Folk training opportunities
  • Be eligible for some discounts and special offers, for example 20% off at Cotswold Outdoor Runners Need, Cycle Surgery, Snow & Rock (please email info@woodcraft.org.uk for the code) and various benifits from the YHA
