Learn about Trade Unions with Unite
We've launched #DreamBigAtHome!
Our new lockdown website has hundreds of activities and games to do at home, weekly challenges to try and a regular programme of live workshops and events online, as well as information on how our groups can operate during the COVID-19 outbreak.
We're pleased to announced that Woodcraft Folk has recently partnered with Unite.
As one of our affiliates Unite are keen to educate children and young people about Trade Unions, Collective Action, Equality and employment rights.
Unite have relaunched their 'Unite in schools programme' and have come up with a great education pack for schools and youth organisations to facilitate their own sessions with young people looking at the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees at works. Engaging your young people in discussion around issues like bullying, discrimination minimum wage and the role of the trade unions in the workplace.
Unite are the only trade union currently running this programme and their Reps have produced an incredible range of lesson plans, materials, role plays, and films to engage young people. Their Reps are also available to come along to your groups to run sessions. If this is something you would be interested in contact mailto:mary.sayer@unitetheunion.org.
The programme is very inspiring and students who have taken part are starting to realise that, as the next generation, they have the skills and motivation to act collectively, to campaign using social media, etc. and to run our trade unions effectively to fight increasing casualisation and inequality.
