Information for Mentees

5 good reasons to get a mentor:

  1. It’s great to have someone to talk to, to run ideas past and to ask advice from when getting involved in a new venture or a new role.
  2. Mentors are encouraging and enthusiastic to help.
  3. A mentor can help you work out what next steps you could take and how to get more involved.
  4. Mentors are trained to listen to you not to tell you what to do.
  5. Mentors can help you to develop the confidence and self knowledge that you need to succeed.

Mentors are great for supporting lots of different types of roles of leadership and responsibilites, here are a few examples of things you might want to, or already do do:

·   Write articles about Woodcraft Folk issues
·   Take more responsibility at a group night
·   Organise an event
·   Run or support campaigns
·   Tell the world about Woodcraft Folk (work in your community)
·   Help to facilitate/be part of another Woodcraft Folk project
(i.e. Leading for the Future, the annual campaign,  The Young Reporter’s Project, Follow the Trail, A local Action Project etc.)
·    Be more involved in decision making in your disrict / nationally
·   Take a role on a district committees
·    Set up a new Woodcraft folk group
·    Start volunteering at a group night
·    Take a role on camp (village coordinator, Kp, KG etc.)
·    Run a workshop

Would you like someone to talk to, to run ideas past and to ask advice from when getting involved in a new venture like any of the above?
