One of the highlights of a child’s Woodcraft Folk experience is their first camp. Camps come with a number of inherent risks, for examples:

  • A new environment
  • Changes to usual routine
  • Lack of experience of camping and using camping equipment
  • Impact of weather and nature
  • Limited access to services e.g. medical, toilets, washing
  • Tiredness

All of the above if managed makes children more resilient, and enables them to engage as equals with each other and nature.
