On 22nd October some Pioneers from St Neots, Cambridge and Peterborough got together for a day filled with fun! They met at Hinchingbrooke Country Park in Huntingdon. Pioneers worked together to put a tent up following instructions, they then had to take it down with half of them having their eyes closed! They cooperated to collect wood and build a central fire. Whilst it was still light there was a whittling activity to make a marshmallow stick each and the pioneers fed everyone with hot dogs cooked on trangias (raised outdoor stove).

Reflecting on the Many Histories of Woodcraft Folk

Thursday, 1 November 2018
On Saturday 15th September, members, researchers and interested members of the public came together at University College London's Institute of Education for a day of talks and discussions exploring the many histories of Woodcraft Folk. The event celebrated the move of our archive materials to the institute and opened up conversations which we're sure will continue as we move towards our centenary in 2025.

The presentations and Q&As were recorded so if you were unable to join us, or just want to refresh your memory if you were there, you can now listen back at your own convenience. The recordings are hosted on UCL's website and the day is divided into individual presentations and sessions. Just click on the title below to be taken to the relevant recording.

A warm welcome from our new Chair Pip Sayers

Tuesday, 16 October 2018

Hello! My name is Pip Sayers, I’m 22 and I’m a music teacher and performer. At the start of this month I was elected Chair of General Council, potentially making me the youngest chair of a trustee board in the country. I started my Woodcraft life as an Elfin in Bradford. One of my earliest memories of Woodcraft is being encouraged by my Elfin leader to perform on saxophone at the Christmas Merrymoot, a skill which has gone on to shape my education and now career. Woodcraft has offered me countless valuable and character defining experiences from Elfins right through to DFs, and now as a Venturer leader in
