Widening Participation at Development Conference

Friday, 2 March 2018

Last weekend Woodcraft members of all ages from across the country met at a Development Weekend in York to share practice, learn lessons and produce resources which will enable all groups to increase inclusion and diversity. Check out this great video they put together which will give you a better idea of what they achieved and are plans to widen participation in our movement.

It was a really positive weekend and we're pleased to share with you the following statement from the attendees. Please share this statement and video with your leaders and young members.

Our Widening Participation Statement

Children and Young People from all communities stand to gain massive benefits from Woodcraft Folk. They deserve the opportunity and we have a duty to offer them access. Widening Participation will be a key priority going forward and we will allocate resources accordingly to support new and existing groups reaching out into new communities.

We're planning for a significant long term cultural change in Woodcraft Folk, with a return to the ethics and ambitions of our founders. With the aim that by our 100th anniversary in 2025 Woodcraft will be offering youth activities to all communities in the UK.
