VCamp: Voyages Update Feb 2019

Monday, 11 February 2019

With just a few days to go until the early booking deadline it’s been a busy month for the VCamp team and Venturer Committee, working hard to make the camp the best it can be! It’s great to see that lots of you have booked now – keep them coming before Friday 15th Feb to get £10 off!

A few weeks ago we had our first face-to-face meeting of the entire team, where we worked out lots of logistical things and got very excited about using the radio station for internal communications at camp. We also had our Southern Open Meeting, where it was great to meet lots of you and hear your wonderful ideas.

But most excitingly, we’ve been keeping youth voice key to the camp; Venturer Committee met at the weekend to discuss the menu and decide on the final round of centre applications and village names. They following centres have been approved to provide fun workshops at VCamp:

  • Sustainability
  • Bushcraft & Nature
  • Arts & Crafts
  • STEM Cell (Science)
  • Peace
  • PANTS (Performing Arts)
  • Venturer Committee
  • Media
  • Radio
  • MEST UP (Mediation Education Support Team)
  • The Library/Museum.
  • Plus the Common Grounds cafe and a Solar Cinema

So there will be something for every venturer to enjoy! And all the villages are going to be named after constellations, voyaging through the galaxy in-keeping with our space themed night. Lucky VCamp attendees will be residing in Diphda (the second frog), Alpheratz (horse's naval), Betelgeuse (Orion's armpit), Polaris (Polar Bear), Camelopardalis (Giraffe) or Big Dipper.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at Biblins from the 21st-23rd of June for Precamp!
