VCamp Update May 2019

Tuesday, 28 May 2019

VCamp is only two months away, and the booking deadline is in TWO WEEKS. Make sure you get chatting to your group and booking them in ASAP to guarantee your place at the biggest Woodcraft event this summer! Alongside workshops in our fantastic centres, and a thrilling performance from Bethlehem Casuals, we now have a Ceilidh band confirmed for those of you who love a wee jig! Remember you have to apply and be approved before you can book, so ensure you do this with plenty of time to go before the deadline. Go to https://woodcraft.org.uk/vcamp for more info on booking and email admin@venturercamp.org.uk if you have any questions.

In other news, PreCamp is just three weeks away (alongside Annual Gathering at Biblins), so make sure you book onto that ASAP too for lots of venturer (and younger) friendly, voyage-themed fun. It’s going to be full of centre taster workshops and interactive ways of getting to know the site and your village, and will also include the hottest night time entertainment this side of VCamp, courtesy of Indigo Collective, our programme coordination team. You can get more info and book here: https://woodcraft.org.uk/annual-gathering-2019

Are you a DF/Kinsfolk who wants to come to camp but still has no role? Fear not, stewarding applications are open! Stewarding is a great way to get involved in keeping venturers safe on camp, will look fantastic on your CV and give you a chance to meet lots of woodies from all over the country. Follow this link to apply through a quick google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfe5TNn0Y5akk-YUmjxSQdQz3G3daVnYNqBwZXIejDNb2w3Tg/viewform?fbclid=IwAR1FOkx6WHRWQMrEHfAeG3AEUkk_ugB9wJ-5FtHuI8QXl2igqIVq_jp9EjY

Finally, a message from the Arts Centre coordinators Josie, Easter, Jane and Eliza Rachel:

“Art is a powerful catalyst for education and social change. To use this power, we need to know what you want out of an arts centre. 'Art' is a broad thing so don't hold back! Already working on suggestions from you guys from throwing paint to human sacrifice (yes really.) - keep them coming!

Also share with us your favourite artists especially art that includes an element of journeying - the theme of the camp! Eleanor Antin travelled the US for two years with 100 wellies!”

If you are a venturer or venturer leader please have a chat about what you want from your Arts Centre at camp and let us know on programme@venturercamp.org.uk so we can make it happen!

Looking forward to seeing you all at Biblins for PreCamp and Camp in just a few weeks!
