Update on the Stop DSEI Campaign!

Tuesday, 2 July 2019

Dear Friends,

Woodcraft Peace Kitchen at stopDSEI

Woodcraft will be running a Peace Kitchen during the week leading up to the arms fair. From 2nd to 8th September we will provide drop in tea and coffee making facilities and an evening meal. Newham will provide a kitchen tent and cooking facilities and Stuart will co-ordinate, but we need people to chop, cook and wash up. Thank you to Camden/ Highgate and Holloway and Newham Woodcraft groups, as well as Newham Anti-raids who have already signed up to help on the Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Can you or your group help on one of the other evenings? It would be a great group night activity!! Please contact stopdsei@woodcraft.org.uk to sign up or for more information.

Welfare at stopDSEI

We are also looking for people to help with other welfare roles during the week. Are you a trained first aider or mental health first aider? Can you help welcome and signpost people at the Welcome desk? Can you bike refreshments to protesters across the Excel site? Can you help staff a quiet tent? Can you provide or help co-ordinate arrestee support? If you can help with any of these please contact stopdsei@woodcraft.org.uk.

Are you a Green and Black Cross Trained Legal Observer? CAAT would like to hear from you if you are a GBC trained legal observer. Contact Siana at events@caat.org.uk

UK Arms sales to Saudi Arabia for use in Yemen are unlawful!

Congratulations to CAAT on their successful appeal. The government must now stop issuing new arms exports licences and suspend existing licences to export arms to Saudi Arabia for use in Yemen, and retake all decisions in accordance with the law. Please make your MP aware of this ruling to keep up the pressure to stop these sales once and for all. Further information can be found at caat.org.uk/unlawful
