Span the World - mentor a European young person in London!

Friday, 2 July 2021

Woodcraft Folk will soon be hosting two more full-time volunteers from the EU, based in London for between five and twelve months from Autumn 2021. We are now seeking volunteer mentors, to help the volunteer settle into life in the UK. The volunteer will have daily supervision from WcF staff on their tasks. But the mentor is valuable as:
1) An unbiased sounding board
2) A friendly person with local knowledge
3) Someone to encourage self-reflection.

Topics can cover: cultural adaptation, transferable skills, social networks outside of volunteer hours, English language development.

A mentor needs to have:
Experience of youth work, either as a participant or as a leader
An understanding of well-being
Available for one weekly meeting initially, reducing to once a month when the volunteer is settled.
Available for the duration of the volunteer placement.
Based in London

This is a wonderful opportunity to engage a young adult who is new to Woodcraft Folk and to support them during their time in the UK. We can pay travel expenses for mentors to meet with volunteers.
