New partnership for Lockerbrook Centre

Wednesday, 11 March 2015

Lockerbrook Centre is delighted to announce our new partnership for 2015 with Lindley Educational Trust.

Lockerbrook will work with Lindley, based at the Hollowford Centre in Castleton to deliver weeks of exciting outdoor adventure activities, such as climbing, caving, ropes courses and weasling throughout 2015 and nearly 200 children and young people are anticipated to take part in these activities. We hope that this arrangement will work really well for everyone involved and enable us to continue providing outdoor adventure weeks for schools together into the future, too.

Woodcraft Folk shares much of our core ethos with Lindley – cooperation, working together, empowering young people and developing individuals are key to both organisations. We also both share historic connections to the Grith Pioneers. Their centre called Shining Cliff in Derbyshire continues to this day to be run by Lindley as a place for young people to learn in a rural environment.

The Lindley Educational Trust also turns 50 this year and has significant and long-term experience of inspiring young people to achieve great things. This work is directly in line with Woodcraft Folk’s key strategic aim to reach out to new communities and engage more young people in our work. This partnership helps meet the needs of Woodcraft folk at Lockerbrook and will also enable the centre to concentrate on continued, fuller use by Woodcraft groups. We still have some weekends available for 2015 if your group or district would like to book. Please email: office@lockerbrook.org.uk
