New online training module

Thursday, 22 May 2014

Over recent months Woodcraft Folk have been piloting new ways to support local volunteers to engage with training. Today we are launching a series of new onlne introductory modules for new leaders and new groups - New Group Journey. The online module brings together everything leaders need to know to get started and looks at the following topics:

  1. Staying Safe
  2. Being part of the Folk
  3. The people you need
  4. Programme planning
  5. Finance
  6. Communication

Individuals can visit and do any of the modules in whatever order, whenever they like. They can even take a quiz to check that they have understood the key points. This is just our first step in introducting online training - there will be more in future.

Also, since March we have been facilitating webinars on a range of topics, including:

  • Introduction to Special Education Needs
  • Who needs a DBS or PVG?
  • Supporting children and young people on the autistic spectrum
  • Introduction to the Membership Database
  • Supporting children and young people with dyslexia

Other planned webinars include:

  • Communication for All, Wednesday 4th June 8pn
  • Introduction to Gift Aid, Thursday 12th June 8pm

If you would be interested in facilitating a webinar on a topic of interest to the wider movement then please do get in touch. I am particularly keen to find volunteers willing to run sessions on how to put the aims and principles into practice.
