Monica cycles from Athens to Lisbon for girls' education

Wednesday, 5 June 2013

Earlier this week, clan Piercy of Spelthorne District Woodcraft Folk gathered eagerly at Heathrow to meet their sister/daughter/auntie Monica who had just completed a 6,000km cycle ride for charity in only 63 days. She rode from Athens to Lisbon, mostly solo, to raise £5,000 for the girls’ education charity CAMFED.

But whilst the Piercys waited to give her a hero’s welcome at Terminal 1, Monica sat, alone and puzzled, in Terminal 3! Fortunately, they soon realised the mistake and caught up with each other. Monica is just £500 short of her £5,000 target now, so donations are still welcome at www.justgiving.com/monica-piercy1.

If you want to find out what Monica's experience of this amazing challenge was like, you can read about it on her blog athenstolisbon
