Monica cycles from Athens to Lisbon for girls' education

Wednesday, 5 June 2013

Earlier this week, clan Piercy of Spelthorne District Woodcraft Folk gathered eagerly at Heathrow to meet their sister/daughter/auntie Monica who had just completed a 6,000km cycle ride for charity in only 63 days. She rode from Athens to Lisbon, mostly solo, to raise £5,000 for the girls’ education charity CAMFED.

But whilst the Piercys waited to give her a hero’s welcome at Terminal 1, Monica sat, alone and puzzled, in Terminal 3! Fortunately, they soon realised the mistake and caught up with each other. Monica is just £500 short of her £5,000 target now, so donations are still welcome at

If you want to find out what Monica's experience of this amazing challenge was like, you can read about it on her blog athenstolisbon
