DBS processing is going online!!

Thursday, 14 April 2016

We’re pleased to announce that Woodcraft Folk is now processing DBS application forms online. Members will no longer have to complete their forms in hard copy but can instead fill in an online application that will be sent directly to the Disclosure & Barring Service to be processed.

The decision to go online was taken by General Council & the Lead Safeguarding Officer who felt we needed to improve

our current vetting processes in light of the changes introduced by the DBS in 2013.

The benefits to moving DBS online are:

  • Response times from the Disclosure & Barring Service will be dramatically reduced
  • We’ll no longer need to rely on members to show us their DBS certificates as we’ll receive confirmation directly from the online system.
  • Members can request automatic sign up to the Update Service

The online system is user friendly and we’ve provided full guidance for Membership Secretaries and volunteers to use which are available at www.woodcraft.org.uk/dbs-online.

Like usual all members who are due to renew their DBS will be invited by Folk Office to go on to the online system to create and complete an application form. They’ll then need to take their identity documents along to their Membership Secretary who will witness their ID and verify the application online. Once completed the application will be submitted directly to the Disclosure & Service electronically for processing.

New Members will be instructed to go on to the online site via the membership application form or by email from Folk Office.

We hope you’re just as excited as we are with this new development. If you’ve any questions regarding the new DBS online system feel free to email info@woodcraft.org.uk.
