Create your own Community

Woodcraft Folk members can now create their own digital Communities. So if you've been looking for a way to invove Folk across the movement in a topic close to your heart - whether it's campfire cooking, co-operative games, Woodcraft Folk's visa campaign or any other subject - an easy way to do it is now available.

Here are the steps:

  1. Make sure your membership (and DBS if you're over 16) is up to date
  2. Log in to the website (or click 'create new account' if you don't have a login)
  3. Go to 'create content' in the bottom left box, as thought you're posting a news story or an event etc
  4. Choose 'Woodcraft Folk Topical Community' from the list of content types
  5. Give your Community a name, description and settings for how people become members

You can set your Community to be public or private, depending on whether you want everyone with a website login to be able to see your Community listed and request to join. 

Now you have a space to hold discussions, share resources and images, and keep a calendar of events related to your topic. 

You can make other people admins of the Community so you don't have to manage it on your own, although there's very little management needed as it's such a democratic platform. Your main decision as a manager or admin is which posts to make 'public' so you can share your news/ resources etc on the public website.
