The Folk remember Catherine McCarthy - Cudham Centre Mananger 2008-2020.

For everyone who has ever met Catherine they will remember a warm hearted woman who took great joy in hosting groups at Cudham and sparking an interest in the world amongst children and young people. Catherine shared her knowledge, skills and experience; coaching new leaders and hosting residential stays for new groups. She was a good organiser of people, but would also put herself out to help others.

Catherine created a welcoming and safe haven at Cudham. Many children (and adults) will hold fond memories of the fun lady who lived in the magical place in the woods with the deer. Catherine's golden rule at Cudham was to have fun and she would make sure that we all had that whilst also being safe, well fed, warm and looked after. Catherine never promised that we would see the badgers, but would do everything she could to encourage them to come out and play.

Before joining the Folk as a staff member Catherine volunteered as a group leader in South London. She was passionate about our aims and principles, of children and young people of all ages coming together to tackle the injustices in society, to be agents for positive change.
