BYC National Members Meeting

Monday, 22 October 2012

10th November, 10.30-16.00, London

What is the British Youth Council?
The British Youth Council is the National Youth Council of the UK. A youth-led charity, they empower young people aged 25 and under to influence and inform the decisions that affect their lives. They support young people to get involved in their communities and democracy locally, nationally and internationally, making a difference as volunteers, campaigners, decision-makers and leaders.
BYC is made up of more than 230 member organisations who support BYC’s common vision for young people. Members elect our Board, determine our policies and prioritise our campaigns. They also act as the link between BYC and millions of individuals within the membership of our members. BYC runs a number of youth-led networks and programmes - including the UK Youth Parliament, Young Mayor Network, Local Youth Council Network, National Scrutiny Group and Youth Select Committee - which encourage young people to get involved in democracy and campaign to bring about change.
National Members Meetings
National Members Meetings are a chance for the large members, including Woodcraft Folk, to come together to explore common issues and challenges. This will be a chance for us to explore with you how you can get the most out of your membership of the British Youth Council (BYC), look at how we can work in partnership with you more closely and share with you the latest developments at BYC.
National Members Meeting – November 2012
The National Members meeting on November 10th will focus on developing BYC’s new campaigns for 2013 (youth unemployment, defending our members future and affordable public transport). It will also review the Annual Council Meeting, give you a chance to hold the BYC Board to account and look at informal learning awards. The full agenda is attached.
How to get involved
If you are interested in attending, get in touch with Carly Walker-Dawson ( by Monday 29 October. The event is open to any Woodcraft member up to the age of 25. The event is free to attend.
