Activities for your Elfins this Autumn

Wednesday, 26 October 2016

Have fun with your Elfins this Autumn by doing some of the suggested outdoor activities:

  • Take your Elfins outdoors to find the first conkers of the season, name trees and use both the conkers and fallen leaves for a craft activity.
  • Birdwatching - Winter birds are arriving and wherever you live you can see birds like fieldfares and redwings. Put out fat feeders, nuts for birds and collect Hawthorn berries which the birds can feast on.
  • Look for acorns that have fallen from the trees and plant them to see what happens.
  • Look out for ladybirds there are still plenty about and the bigger ones called harlequins. These predate the smaller ones and could put them endangered.
  • Make a hedgehog homes for hibernation.
  • Encourage the children to keep a wildlife diary of what you see in their garden and share with the group.
