The World We Want To See Camp

What does your vision for the future of the world look like? What small steps can we take to make that happen? Pioneers, Venturers, DFs and volunteers are invited to take part in "The World We Want To See" Camp from Saturday 4th to Monday 6th May 2019.

After setting up camp on Saturday and an opening circle: young members will participate in (and volunteers will support) a wide game: Sammy (a Pioneer) is presenting young people's vision of a better world to UN, but needs your help to collect all the evidence they need and put together their report! Working together in small groups you'll take on challenges across the campsite to shape the picture of "The World We Want To See". On Saturday evening we'll have a campfire and a chance for everyone to socialise.

On Sunday, participants will form their own small groups based on an issue they'd like to take action on locally, nationally or globally. Using a hackthon format, groups will work together over the course of the day to devise their own social action. These will be showcased to all the other groups on Sunday evening.

Monday morning will be an opportunity for action planning to make those visions a reality in small ways during Summer 2019, before taking down tents and a closing circle.

Whether you are an experienced camper or this will be your first Woodcraft Folk residential, all are welcome to join us and equipment and extra support will be provided where needed. Accomodation will mostly be in tents, though some space for those who would prefer an indoor sleepover is available. Meals will be provided for Saturday lunch through to Monday breakfast. Participants will be asked to join in with the preparation of meals and other campsite chores as 'clan' duties.

Volunteers who are parents/carers are welcome to bring children of Woodchip or Elfin age (under 10), but please be aware activities are aimed at Pioneers and above and you will need to supervise younger children whilst participating. If sufficient demand we may be able to provide a creche programme - please let us know when booking.

Any volunteer wishing to stay overnight at the camp will need to have current Woodcraft Folk membership, an up to date DBS check and have submitted two references if becoming a member for the first time. Please make sure this is completed in plenty of time before the event.

Please book places by Monday 25th April.

This event is part of a project funded by the #iwill Programme through the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
