Virtual Social Action Session - Hate Speech

We've launched #DreamBigAtHome!

Our new lockdown website has hundreds of activities and games to do at home, weekly challenges to try and a regular programme of live workshops and events online, as well as information on how our groups can operate during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Event date:
1 June 2020 - 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Event location:

During this time we are still very much committed to promote education for social change. We are running a series of sessions around social action and being activists online even when we cannot leave our homes.

This fourth session will focus on hate speech online.  The session will include an introduction to the concepts of free speech and hate speech. Young people will learn the difference between the two concepts, and discuss what appropriate online behaviour looks like as well as developing their ability to identify hate speech online and learn a range of effective responses to deal with it responsibly. This will be an interactive session for Pioneers (age 10-12) and Venturers (age 13-15).
