Our new lockdown website has hundreds of activities and games to do at home, weekly challenges to try and a regular programme of live workshops and events online, as well as information on how our groups can operate during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Join Claire Slocombe for a wonderful workshop around making your own comic strip! This session is aimed at Pioneers and Venturers (age 10-15). 

Session Outline - Comic Capers – How to make your own comic strip

Young people will need paper, pencil, coloured pens/pencils and can also bring their favourite comic for inspiration.  

Setting – How to transport people to your world and bring people into your story

Story – There are no rules in comic stories – could be real life, tv shows, random doodles or jokes

Character – Who are they, where have they come from and what has happened to them

Style – Sharing examples of the many comic style genres e.g. anime, superhero, photo comics

Props and powers – Does your character have props and powers to help them in their quest

Throughout the session there will be lots of examples and ways to support their designs.

Story – can choose three words, an adjective, noun and story type at random

Character – answer question to help develop their character through questioning – how old are they?, what’s their favourite breakfast/sport? etc

Prop and powers - can be chosen from the wardrobe of impossible possibilities or the drawer of destiny!
