A weekend for Woodcrafters of all ages in the Midlands to come together to share their skills at a scout centre near Birmingham.

Friday 4th - Sunday 6th March 2011

Blackwell Adventure Centre,
Blackmore Court, Agmore Road,
B60 1PX

Do you want to find out how other local groups run their groups and let them know how you run yours. One of the best and most enjoyable ways to learn is through practical experience so come and learn from and teach others.

So far we’ve had requests and ideas for skill sharing workshops on all of the following:

• How can you can strengthen your local group/district
• Bush craft
• Sustainability
• Co-operative games/activities

A few volunteers have already offered to lead some of these sessions but we’re looking for more! If you would like to volunteer to help or have an idea for another workshop that you would like to run please contact Rose Mitchell. We also need volunteers to help cook over the weekend so if you have experience of KPing or just want to help out in the kitchens get in touch.

You can either choose to stay for the whole weekend or come for just a day. We will be staying at Blackwell Adventure http://www.blackwelladventure.co.uk/ which is a Scout Centre near Birmingham. There is a choice of either staying in dormitories in the centre or camping outside (though you will need to provide your own tents if you want to camp). Spaces are limited for the dormitories so if you wish to sleep inside book early!

A crèche will be provided for children under the age of 6. The workshops are open to all, so Elfins, Pioneers, Venturers, DFs and Kinsfolk are all able to get involved.

The weekend is completely free, although you will need to cover your own transport costs. However if anyone cannot attend because they are unable to afford their travel costs please contact Rose to enquire about a travel subsidy.

The centre also requires anyone over the age of 18 who comes on site to have a current CRB check. However if non-members without a current CRB wish to come along with other family members we can arrange for a List 99 check at an additional cost of £5.

If you would like to come along to the weekend, either staying the whole weekend or as a day visitor you will need to complete a registration form and return it by 14th February 2011. Please send all completed forms to:

Rose Mitchell, Woodcraft Folk,
Unit 9/10, 83 Crampton Street,
London, SE17 3BF
