London Camp 2014 – Back to the Beginning

The Lyons Copse Scout Site (lyonscopse.org.uk) in Hampshire, which we have booked from 26th July 2014 for a week, will have space for 500 campers. It offers some onsite activities like climbing, a ropes course, a small lake for raft building and a wooded area for bush craft etc. Not far from the coast, a trip to the seaside is also a possibility. No great luxuries, but some proper toilets and showers will be available.

A small planning group has met and decided to try and get a grant to keep the fees affordable and to be able to offer some pre camp training and central workshops on Bushcraft, Science, storytelling etc. As a theme we thought exploring the ideas of Ernest Thompson Seaton who influenced Leslie Paul, who founded Woodcraft Folk nearly 90 years ago, would fit in nicely with the current interest in Bushcraft. Further details will be sent to districts who have expressed an interest in attending.
