Woodcraft Folk's Midlands Region has around 22 groups, meeting in cities including Dudley, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Kingswinford, Leicester and Derby. We're also a growing region, with groups recently getting established in Nottingham, Bournville and South Birmingham.
We enjoy a huge variety of outdoor activities, including narrow boating, camping and learning about local wildlife. Leicestershire Woodcraft Folk, with the help of The Centre of Alternative Technology and De Montfort University, designed and built a mobile renewable energy trailer called the Eco Trailer, which is now used to power activities at camps and festivals.
For the first time in summer 2012, Districts in the Midlands region came together for a regional camp, with a programme of workshops and entertainment mostly led by young people. Craft, party games, a youth-led role play about seeking asylum in the UK and several evenings of cheesy dancing inspired new friendships and reinforced existing ones, with lots of people commenting on how much they enjoyed the co-operation between different age groups.
