Group night activities to download

In this online shelf is a collection of group night activities you can read online or download. Some are session plans for a one-off group night, some are books containing loads of different activities.

International Negotiations and unfair resource distribution

Time taken: 30 minutes to play and at least 15 minutes for reflection. 

Equipment: About 80 sweets (small, individually wrapped, variety to suit all tastes)

This game is designed to simulate international negotiations. It is based on "Prisoners Dilema" type experiments from economics. 

Our Times: campaign activities for Venturers

Our Times is the new campaign from young people around Woodcraft Folk, who want to give other young people a platform to be heard on social and political issues including war. The aim is to enable young people to educate each other on the issues they care about, and enable wider society to hear and respect young people's views.

Do you want to give your Woodcraft Folk group its own space on the Woodcraft website? You're in the right place!

Talk to your group about what they'd like to put on the website, and volunteer as your group's Web Manager. Ask your Group Leader to get in touch with us and we'll make sure you have a log in and support to get started.

Survey of Woodcraft groups

34 Woodcraft groups responded to the challenge of TREE’s end-of-year survey in 2009. It’s one of the ways we’re working out how much impact the TREE programme is having, and this first survey was also simply a way to hear what groups are doing and what they want support with. There were some interesting answers, all of which are in the report downloadable below.

Can I Come In?

You will need: Copies of the three role cards ‘Refugees’, ‘Immigration Officers’ and ‘Observers’. Copies of the information sheet ‘The right to asylum – international law’. Download these from the bottom of this page. 

This is a role play exploring the experience and rights of refugees seeking sanctuary in another country.

We know that many Venturer leaders find it challenging to address difficult and challenging issues with 13 to 15 year olds in Woodcraft Folk.  This resource has been designed to help explore some of these issues which concern young people at a level they can relate to and learn from.  We hope it will give you ideas and confidence in educating for social change.
