Woodies makeover begins

A team of eager volunteers gathered at Biblins over the weekend to give the site a good spring clean. Volunteers travelled to the site from Leicester, Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, Stroud and Leighton Buzzard to scrub, paint, clear paths and generally to start the process of giving the Biblins site a Woodcraft make over. The team of volunteers included young people, those new to Biblins and those who have camped on the site for over 20 years, and together they have made a start on improving site services.

There will be a series of webinars starting 6th February to explore how we can put Woodcraft Folk’s aims and principles into action whilst running our groups. The webinars are taking each aim and principle of Woodcraft Folk and presenting how members can support children to engage and explore them.

We're hosting 'New leader training' at the Golden Lion hotel in Stirling. All members are welcome to come along and take part in a weekend focused on running safe and effective groups for children and young people rooted in Woodcraft Folk's Aims & Principles.

Woodcraft Folk have this month taken over the management of the Forestry Commission's Biblins Youth Campsite in the

 Forest of Dean. Before the camping season begins we are looking to host a number of working weekend to improve facilities and to give the centre a real Woodies feel.

Can you help Woodcraft Folk ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate in one of our groups?

This residential training weekend, held at our Darsham Country Centre on the Suffolk coast, is a chance for volunteers new and old to come together to explore how to grow and sustain our groups. 

New volunteers will have the opportunity to learn how to plan and deliver a programme of activities rooted in Woodcraft Folk's aims & principles, and keep young people safe in our groups.

 New management for Biblins Youth Campsite

The Forestry Commission are pleased to announce new management arrangements for the Biblins youth campsite.  After many years of in-house management, the site at The Doward,Whitchurch, Ross-on-Wyewill now be managed under a long-term lease with the UK charity, Woodcraft Folk.

Woodcraft Folk are a progressive youth organisation with 90 years’ experience of supporting children and young people to camp, play and learn about the environment.

Leader Training Weekend: 9-11 February

Places are still available on our forthcoming leader training weekend in Febraury, which will take place at the Darsham Country Centre in Suffolk.

The training is suitable for new and existing volunteers working with any of our age groups. Participants will have the chance to share challenges and solutions, as welll as learn practical tips and techniques for managing your group, keeping young people safe, and planning an engaging programme.
