Woodcraft Folk's TREE programme has been supporting young people's participation in the organisation and the wider community for three and a half years now - and we'd love to know what difference we've made for the young people who've been involved in our activities. So we're looking for any young person (aged 21 or younger) who's done TREE-related activity to complete a quick survey for us.

After a very productive meeting with Paul Kenny, General Secretary of the General Municipal & Boilermakers Union, Woodcraft Folk are looking forward to a fruitful relationship with GMB.

Paul confirmed that GMB would be affiliating to Woodcraft Folk and are keen to communicate Woodcraft Folk's opportunities to their members. GMB will also be able to help Woodcraft Folk educate our younger members about the value of trade unions.

Woodcraft Folk responds to the announcement by Scouts that they will consult their membership on the issue of accepting atheists as members and leaders:

As an organisation founded in 1925 by former Scouts who left that movement because of Scouting's commitment at that time to church, monarchy and patriarchy, Woodcraft Folk welcomes the Scouts' consultation process to begin the end of over 100 years of excluding young people on the grounds of their atheism.

National Camp for Younger Members?

The Education and Groups Grand Committee is currently undertaking a consultation exercise with all Woodchip, Elfin and Pioneer groups on whether there should be one or more national camps for Woodcraft Folk’s younger members. This consultation will help shape the views on whether a camp is a realistic possibility.

Lloyd Russell-Moyle: new Vice-President of European Youth Forum

Woodcraft Folk’s Lloyd Russell-Moyle is the newly elected Vice-President of the European Youth Forum. The General Assembly of the European Youth Forum took place from 21-25 November in Maribor, Slovenia - European Youth Capital 2013 – where Lloyd got elected. Lloyd is the previous Chair of Woodcraft Folk and is currently Vice-Chair (Centres and Campsites) of General Council.
