General Secretary to step down in September

Thursday, 26 April 2018

Woodcraft Folk General Secretary, Jon Nott, has today announced that he will step down at the end of September.

“I have had the pleasure and privilege of being Woodcraft Folk’s General Secretary for over eight years, working with a truly inspiring team of staff, trustees, volunteers and young people," said Jon. "I’ve enjoyed our successes and the challenges, from CoCamp and the TREE project in my early days, through the 90th anniversary and the New Groups Projects, to our expanding network of centres and the planning for Common Ground. I’ve travelled the length and breadth of the UK visiting group nights, centres, meetings and, of course, camps. Whether around the General Council table, the morning circle or the campfire, I’ve met wonderful people of all ages that I’m proud to call my colleagues and friends. I may be moving on, but the values of Woodcraft Folk and the impact it has on thousands of young people every group night, every camp and throughout their lives, will remain with me for the rest of my life.”

"Jon Nott has made a massive contribution to Woodcraft Folk since he joined as General Secretary in 2010," commented Stuart Walker, Chair of Woodcraft Folk's General Council. "He has led our organisation through periods of huge creativity and steered us through sometimes choppy waters. Although we are sad to accept his resignation, he will leave Woodcraft in an excellent condition, with building blocks for a bright future firmly in place. We wish him all the best fortune, and trust he will continue to be part of our Woodcraft family."
