Engaging refugee and asylum-seeking families in the Folk

Friday, 18 November 2016

We have secured funding from Children in Need to set up a new Elfin group in Glasgow to attract refugees

and asylum seekers to become part of our movement. The group will be launched in January 2017 and will meet in the city centre to be accessible to families from across Glasgow.

Starting with a core group of refugee and asylum seeking families, the intention is to gradually open the group out to other families in the West End area of the city. We will be working with the Scottish Refugee Council and Integration networks to recruit families as well as running outreach events.

We are looking for a group of volunteers to support the running of the group. If you are interesting in getting involved, or can help share ideas about engaging and supporting refugee and asylum seeking families, please email Alex Wilde. The group will run on a Monday 4 - 5.30pm at the Garnethill Multicultural Centre.
